The new race WoTLK Gold (which is only the new casting Evoker class) is the primary expansion, and quite rightly so. Evoker, which I played the majority of the game's preview, was an absolute blast. It also features new mechanics as well as some visually remarkable abilities that truly makes it standout.
The Dracthyr offer a wide range of customizing options, so long as you're okay with being limited to choosing from a variety of similar body styles.
As with every other WoW class like the Evoker is inherently tied to the fact that Evokers are only Dracthyr and vice versa, so that many of Dracthyr's racial abilities feel like an expansion of the class. The ability to knock enemies off their feet by whipping them with a tail or blasting them away with wings buffets work perfectly with the Evoker's numerous abilities that instant-cast, allowing you to get a distance and your opponent while causing damages. The Dracthyr are even able to use unique versions of dragonriding mechanic that is an individual racial giving you yet another method to fly through the skies and use your momentum to better move around the often vertical environments of the game's brand new Dragon Isles continent. Dracthyr and, in turn, Evokers, are surprisingly mobile, and have a variety of Evoker capabilities and abilities that permit them to swerve or hover, fly or change their position in ways that no similar WoW classes (aside from perhaps the Demon Hunter) can.
For now, Blizzard has taken the approach of treating Dracthyr as well as Evoker as exclusive to each other, despite fans asking to see Dracthyr characters to take on other classes. In a recent P2Pah interview with associate game director Morgan Day emphasized that while Blizzard developed the Dracthyr's Racials with Evoker to be in their minds, they needed to potentially work alongside other classes. Day also said that in the future WOW WoTLK Classic Gold, the Dracthyr might expand beyond their current magic-based roots.
