The natural disasters definition still cannot explain the damage left as aftermaths to these catastrophes. The natural calamities often result in an utter chaos. Be it earthquakes or floods, calamities bring out the harshest side of nature. How do they disrupt nature? What impacts do they pose on humans and rest of the nature? Here I’m going to make it simpler to embrace.
An event of enormous magnitude that occurs as a result of natural processes, causing extensive harm, destruction, and even fatalities is referred to as a natural disaster. Almost anywhere in the world can be devastated by these events, as they frequently strike without warning and take place suddenly with little to no time for population evacuation.
Now, let’s see some of the chronically known types of natural disasters, including their causes and impacts.
Cause:The cause of earthquakes is the movement and collision of tectonic plates of the Earth leading to an abundance of energy release in the form of seismic waves. This energy is usually released as a result of shaking the ground which can sometimes result in a tremor strong enough to cause buildings to collapse.
Effects:
Cause: Undersea earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and ambulatory landslides are the most common causes of titanic waves known as tsunamis
Effects:
Cause: These devastating cyclones originate above warm ocean temperature areas where warm humid air moves upwards forming wind spirals.
Effects:
Cause: These can begin from a variety of causes like vegetation catching fire from lightning strikes, extreme heat, or human overactivity.
Effects:
Cause: Eruptions are caused by magma which is liquid rock, bursting through the surface of the Earth.
Effects:
The impact of physical damage aside, communities are greatly affected by natural disasters. Here are a few:
Natural disasters can not be completely avoided but we can lessen their impact by:
โ๏ธ An early warning system – New technology is enhancing the ability to predict storms, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc.
โ๏ธ Stronger infrastructure – Buildings that are made to withstand disasters save a lot more lives and people.
โ๏ธ Preparedness plans – Plans put into action beforehand help in the faster recovery of the community post-disaster.
โ๏ธ Action against pollution – Reducing the pollutants might slow down the rate of climate disasters.
Mother nature has the power to cause destruction unlike any human-created mechanism. Recognizing the cause and impact of such phenomena helps in mitigation. Raising awareness coupled with investment in technology and climate activism can reduce the consequences to a great deal.
Stay informed and prepared to minimize risks!
Our Mission... โTo assist disaster survivors by providing a source for them to come together in time of need, to aid in the listing of events, information and other forms of assistance, and continuing support through the recovery process.โ
