The San Francisco 49ers have been doing a poor job of comparing themselves to their opponents lately. If it's just a matter of time and they are able to perform at their level in their match against The New England Patriots on Sunday Then we're expecting a highly exciting, evenly matched game. But there's an awful lot of inconsistency for the 49ers lately.

Since the transition from a successful quarterback in Alex Smith, who boasted 70 percent completion and the quarterback's rating of 100+, San Francisco has turned into a dominant performance, or two, mixed with some poor games, including losing at the hands of The St. Louis Rams.

In the meantime, the Patriots have won seven games in a row, and have two easier contests lined up after this one. They'll come out hard against San Francisco, hoping to challenge their well-known defense in order to score early and force Jim Harbaugh to make mistakes like the one he made which resulted in his losing the game against The Rams (when Colin Kaepernick botched the throw for Ted Ginn Jr.).
