Microsoft stunned the industry on Wednesday by announcing its largest acquisition ever, not just in gaming but in all sectors. The $70 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard will bring together two of the largest companies in gaming. Activision Blizzard has some of the most successful franchises in the gaming industry. Part of the size of the deal comes from Activision's own string of acquisitions over the past several decades. In the wake of the popularity of World of Warcraft on mobile devices, Blizzard has also started to enter the mobile gaming market with games such as the forthcoming World of Warcraft .
